maltatoday | SUNDAY • 23 JANUARY 2022 14 COMMERCIAL The Gasan Foundation donates the second tranche of donation to Malta Hospice THE Gasan Foundation is the latest in a long line of generous donors to support the Hospice Malta and the new St Michael Hospice palliative care centre in Santa Venera. Last year, the Foundation pledged a substan- tial donation towards the new palliative care centre, St Mi- chaels, to be spread out over the span of three years. The Foundation was created with an aim to provide a struc- tured plan through which it can provide support to non-profit organizations in their mission to help change lives. Last year Hospice Malta was the recipient of the Gasan Foundation's an- nual endorsement, with the first tranche was donated immedi- ately. Last week the Founda- tion passed on the second part of this substantial donation, with the third and final part earmarked for early next year when the centre will be com- pleted. The newly refurbished building will become the main premises for Hospice Malta and is expected to help further en- hance the already established palliative community servic- es provided by Hospice since 1989. St. Michael Hospice will also house an In-Patient palli- ative care unit complementing all the other services for a more comprehensive approach. The present-day therapy services will be expanded, and several Out-Patient clinics will also be introduced. St Michael Hospice will also enhance its educational wing which will open many op- portunities to exchange exper- tise with other Hospices across Europe and beyond. With the construction phase almost com- pleted, works at the new centre will now focus on the next stage of mechanical and engineering works, which are scheduled to be completed within a year. Hospice Malta provides free of charge palliative care services to patients suffering from terminal illnesses and vital physical and emotional support to the pa- tients' families. This support is only made possible through the help of volunteers and donations rely- ing heavily on the generosity of companies and individuals alike. Last year alone, Hospice pal- liative care to approximately 1,300 families whilst providing a supportive environment where both patients and their loved ones feel safe. 'LEGACY' a new publication by Vassallo Group A new publication named 'LEGACY' was announced and given as a token during the Vassallo Group annual Chairman's Lunch which was held in mid-December at the Casino Maltese in Valletta, a very special occasion since the group was celebrating its dia- mond 75th Anniversary. The book focuses on an im- portant aspect of the group's ethos, that of infusing a new lease of life within several properties and historic build- ings through renovation, reha- bilitation, and the eventual re- use with a new purpose many a times. It also showcases the wide spectrum of projects that made a significant contribu- tion to the economic and social development of Maltese soci- ety some of which are urban and historic landmarks today. To mark the 70th Anniversa- ry 'VISION' was launched in 2016, a publication which fo- cuses on the evolution of the group over the last few dec- ades going back to its humble origins in the aftermath of the war. The Group's magazine called 'Arkati' is also distributed to all guests during this event each year. This year the cover features the Group Chairman Nazzareno Vassallo proudly holding the EY Entrepreneur of the year 2021 award and the inside articles delve into the group's 75th events, projects such as Campus Hub and Vas- sallo Business Park, ZVART (Zaren Vassallo Art Initiative), the Nazzareno Vassallo Award and more. Around 150 guests attended which included shareholders, directors, top management, partners, bankers and stake- holders to celebrate Vassallo Group's success together.
