In pre-Covid years, Malta BNI held a national event like in other countries, but last year it took the form of an international meet- ing via zoom. "e meetings have been a way to dis- cover and build strategic partnerships and profitable business opportunities for Malta BNI members and guests both in Malta and abroad," said Viviana Premaz- zi, the coordinator of this event. Malta BNI's National Director David Bullock said: "BNI offers the best way to establish a foothold in the lucrative South African market, as well as links into other African markets. ere is a remarkable 'can do' attitude rarely found elsewhere. is event provides a perfect introduction." e meeting will be held with BNI Johannesburg North and West Rand which, with 31 chapters, is the largest region for BNI in South Africa. At 31 Dec 2021, they had 749 companies as members that generated a total of 32,403 business referrals for year 2021. ese referrals resulted in the equivalent of €13 million of closed business. e BNI Area Director in South Afri- ca, Liesl Janse van Rensburg, said: "Since 2020, Malta BNI has embarked on a very pro-active internationalisation pro- gramme making business contacts with companies in Italy, France, Denmark, Israel, Cyprus, USA, and as far away as India and Malaysia. We are also seeking possible business opportunities with op- erators in the Maltese market. A number of non-EU entrepreneurs have already set up in Malta as a great entry point to the huge European mar- ket, and therefore such possibilities of mutual benefit are already there for both participants from Malta and South Afri- ca at this joint meeting." Conducted in English, the meeting will run from 3pm till 5pm. Members and vis- itors alike attending this virtual meeting will have the opportunity to make a sales pitch introducing their respective servic- es or products, their business needs and markets of interest, and to meet entre- preneurs in break-outs rooms. As an international business referral organisation, BNI today is established in more than 70 countries across the world with more than 10,500 chapters. Non-BNI businesses from Malta are being invited to join this joint meeting so that they too can experience some of the great potential that BNI's inter- national dimension can offer, especial- ly in these challenging times.
