10 COMMERCIAL 10.2.2022 Wide-ranging architectural design projects THE 3rd edition of the Malta Archi- tecture and Spatial Planning Awards (MASP) has attracted over sixty entry projects which will now be evaluated by a jury panel composed of foreign and local experts from different sec- tors. e eight reputable members of the jury panel will be assisted by ten technical experts. e key aspects that are evaluated are the projects' form, function, innovative approach, quality and energy efficiency. For the first time, the public will be given a 2-week window period to vote for their favourite architectur- al and design projects. Voting will be carried out through the award's website www.maspawards.com.The project which receives the highest number of votes will win the Public Vote award. Under the patronage of the Pres- ident of Malta, the MASP Awards celebrates the extraordinary con- temporary work that some of Mal- ta's best architectural and interior design studios have completed in recent months. The entries, that are spread over ten categories, highlight the work of pioneering architects and interior designers as they strive to create ar- chitecture that will stand the test of time — for this decade and the next. The Design Award for Good Ar- chitecture, Building and Structure received the highest number of en- tries. Eleven projects will be eyeing the winner's medal in this category, which prize will go to the project which displays the highest quality design and has therefore enriched and improved the existing context through the uniqueness of their innovative and creative design ap- proach. The Rehabilitation & Conserva- tion category, the Restoration cat- egory and Interior Architecture category for Residential Projects were also popular, receiving ten and eight entries respectively. For the second consecutive year, an encouraging number of archi- tectural students submitted their projects for the Urban Planning Concept Award. Such projects, still in concept stage, provide innovative planning solutions to address exist- ing challenges in a given space. Six submissions were received from the public for the newly intro- duced Architecture Photography Award. Besides receiving a credibility boost with both industry profes- sionals and prospective clients, each category award-winner is pre- sented with an exclusive Kane Ca- li designer trophy inspired by the angular forms of Valletta's famed fortifications. Winners are given the opportunity to participate in a year long wide range of brand and PR initiatives. This year's award ceremony will be held on Saturday 26th February 2022 at the Hilton Malta in St. Ju- lian's.
