Heritage Malta offers training sessions
for warranted conservators
HERITAGE Malta is offering
a number of training sessions
for warranted conservators as
ContinuousProfessionalDevel-
opment(CPD)inlinewiththeobli-
gationsoutlinedin the Cultural
Heritage Act and the recommen-
dations of the Board of Warrants
– Conservators and Restorers.
The training sessions are also
being offered to conservators
working outside the agency.
The session content has been
designed according to CPD
guidelines issued by the Board
of Warrants.
The topics which will be tack-
led include, among others, ba-
sic health and safety in the con-
servation of cultural heritage,
repatriation and restitution of
cultural property, digitisation
in conservation, re-defining
chemistry basics for purposes
of scientific analysis, spectros-
copy and its meaning to scien-
tific analysis in the sector, and
X-ray techniques.
Sessions will be held both
physically and virtually. A cer-
tificate of attendance will be is-
sued to all attendees. The first
session will be held online on
17th March, between 10.30am
and noon.
Dr Jeanine Rizzo will deliver
a lecture entitled 'The Cultur-
al Heritage Act – Conserva-
tion-Restoration Basics'. Those

The second session will be
held on 28th March at the
Ochre Hall, Ħaġar Qim, from
8.30am till 11.30am. Clinton
Cutajar will speak about 'Basic
Health and Safety in the Con-
servation of Cultural Heritage'.
