maltatoday | SUNDAY • 27 MARCH 2022 6 MUSIC Rock with a twist at the Teatru Manoel Teatru Manoel presents Stones to Peppers – An Acoustic Journey Through The Rock Classics on 29, 30 and 31 March READY for an acoustic electro journey that presents some of music's best-loved, all-time-fa- vourite great rock classics? Then head to Teatru Manoel at the end of this month when the theatre will come alive with the sounds of The Rolling Stones, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and a host of other chart-topping bands. Produced by Teatru Manoel, the programme will run the rock gamut with songs from U2, REM, Jimi Hendrix and 4 Non Blondes but will also include many rock-inspired numbers by artists such as Bowie and Madonna. This is a show that's guaranteed to ap- peal not only to aficionados of the genre but also to a new gen- eration of music lovers! Conceived and directed by top Maltese singer Ozzy Lino, Stones to Peppers – An Acous- tic Journey Through The Rock Classics will bring together some of Malta's finest artists. They'll perform an acoustic se- lection of the world's favourite rock songs against the back- drop of the stunning Teatru Manoel. Joining Ozzy Lino on vocals are the incomparable Claudia Faniello and Klinsmann Colei- ro. The band, meanwhile, is a veritable 'who's who' of Mal- tese musicians: Wayne Camill- eri and Ryan Magro on guitar, Stefan Xuereb on bass, with Kurt Scerri and Aaron Sammut bringing their own unique spin to drums and percussion. "It's the first time I'm per- forming at the Manoel but I am in awe every time I set foot in it," smiles Ms Faniello. "Being able to sing here – alongside such talented musicians and in front of an audience – is a blessing. I have no doubt it will stay with me as a truly special experience." Recent performances have been severely impacted by the Covid pandemic, venues have lain dark, and artists have missed the immediate contact which only live shows can pro- vide. "Just being able to meet and play together is, in itself, a highlight when you take into consideration the fact that we paused our lives for nearly two years," adds Ms Faniello. Mr Coleiro agrees, "It's al- ways a pleasure to play with such talented professionals. I'll be collaborating and working with old friends that have been in the industry for a long time, but we've never actually per- formed together in the same show! It's something that feels out of this world for me. Our chemistry will make this show very special." Producing unique perfor- mances like Stones to Peppers supports Teatru Manoel's on- going commitment to attract- ing patrons from a wide-rang- ing demographic. "It will be a great opportunity to extend the reach for new au- diences at this venue," says Mr Coleiro, "People can expect a new and innovative twist." Ms Faniello nods in agree- ment, "I hope all kinds of audi- ences come and just enjoy the music." With a stellar line-up of art- ists and a fresh acoustic twist, this promises to be a memora- ble performance which, as Ms Faniello says, "will dazzle the audience with its musician- ship!" "If you love good music and you want to see a different kind of show, make sure you book your tickets," says Mr Coleiro. Stones to Peppers – An Acous- tic Journey Through The Rock Classics will be performed at Teatru Manoel on 29, 30 and 31 March 2022 at 8pm. The event is suitable for audience members aged six and above and adheres to current public health recommendations.
