maltatoday | SUNDAY • 27 MARCH 2022 8 MUSIC The 'GauLive' series comes to an end with a concert of Maltese music THE "GauLive" series, part of the 15th edition of Gaulitana: A Festival of Music, will be brought to an end on Wednes- day 30th March. Falling on the eve of a national day, the concert will be fittingly dedicated en- tirely to Maltese music. Entitled "A Finale of Mal- tese Music", it presents vari- ous works for string orchestra. These include works by Mal- ta's foremost composers of the last generation, namely Car- melo Pace, Charles Camilleri and Joseph Vella, as well as, amongst others, Colin Attard and Pierre Louis Attard. The latter will also be the soloist for the evening, in- terpreting Vella's "Rapsodija Maltija" on the violin and pre- miering Colin Attard's "Élégie Lyrique" – composed in mem- ory of Joseph Vella – on the viola. Colin Attard himself, the Gaulitana artistic director, will conduct the Gaulitanus String Orchestra led by Reggie Clews. The concert will be held at the Kempinski Hotel San Law- renz at 19.30hrs in compli- ance with health regulations. Entrance is free. Gaulitana: A Festival of Mu- sic, organised by the Gaulita- nus Choir and artistically di- rected by Colin Attard, is an awardee of the prestigious EF- FE label of the European Fes- tivals Associations and princi- pally supported by the ICOG scheme of Arts Council Malta and the Ministry for Gozo. The 'GauLive' series has the collaboration of Visit Malta, APS Bank, Bank of Valletta, the Istituto Italiano di Cultu- ra, the China Cultural Centre, Quaint Boutique Hotels, Cit- adel Video Communications, Victoria, Xaghra and Gharb Local Councils, the Armed Forces of Malta, the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra.
