maltatoday | SUNDAY • 17 APRIL 2022 4 FILM Local production Hounds of War with a budget of more than €6.5 million CURRENTLY, another pro- duction entitled Hounds of War is being shot in Malta with an estimated total budget of €6.5 million to be spent in Malta. This was mentioned by Minister for Tourism Clayton Bartolo and Malta Film Com- missioner Johann Grech dur- ing a set visit. This production is being shot in several loca- tions around Malta. This production is being produced entirely in Malta and will be benefitting from the Cash Rebate Programme administered by the Malta Film Commission. The production Hounds of War is a Feature Film filled with action scenes. The pro- duction is being shot at the Naxxar Trade Fair Grounds, the Jerma Hotel site, Malta's capital Valletta, Villa Bologna, Marsaskala, amongst other lo- cations. Minister for Tourism Clay- ton Bartolo emphasised the importance of Malta having a strong film industry. "As gov- ernment, during the last years we have implemented various measures to strengthen our film industry. In fact, recently Malta has registered a strong increase in the number of international productions; choosing Mal- ta as their filming location. We have also witnessed an increase of local productions being featured internationally. The government remains committed to keep investing further in the local film indus- try, creating more opportuni- ties for all those who want to join the industry." Malta Film Commissioner Johann Grech said that 220 in- dividuals are working on this production, with the majority being local crew. "We remain committed to create a sustainable film in- dustry, with new opportuni- ties for all." Johann Grech also men- tioned the new cash rebate programme which have been launched recently by the Malta Film Commission to continue attracting further internation- al productions to our islands. "We have strengthened our cash rebate programme so that more international and local productions can benefit from Malta's incentives.
