THERE were 28,000 people who
suffered severe deprivation last year
as poverty inched upwards, figures
released by the National Statistics
Office show.
These people would have suffered
deprivation in at least seven of the
13 categories measured by the Euro-
pean Statistics on Income and Liv-
ing Conditions (EU-SILC) survey.
Also, 7.8% of children in 2021 were
living in households suffering from
severe material and social depriva-
tion.
