maltatoday | SUNDAY • 1 MAY 2022 7 CULTURE A considerable number of art- works will be exposed at the Cavalieri Art Hotel, in St Ju- lian's, from Friday 29th of April until Sunday 1st of May, as part of the art exhibition Artists for Ukraine, organised in aid of Ukraine's current situation due to the ongoing war. The hotel will be providing the gallery space including the setup requirements, all the generated revenue from this event will be directed towards raising funds for Ukraine, with around 74 art- ists participating and donat- ing their art in order to make this exhibition unique and of relevant importance. "All of us, here at Cavalieri Art Hotel, are honoured to host such a meaningful event, expressing all our support to- wards this cause. We are de- lighted, as an art hotel, to have here the works of all these art- ists, who have put so much ef- fort to make everything possi- ble," Mark Camilleri, General Manager of Cavalieri Art Ho- tel, said. Founder of this project is Maltese artist, Stephanie Miz- zi, who decided to contact dif- ferent colleagues, asking them to share their talent and their work to help raising funds for such a significant cause. "I have come up with this idea to underline how funda- mental is to show interest and support towards Ukraine and its people. I would like to ex- press my gratitude to the Cav- alieri Art Hotel for accepting this," said Mrs Mizzi. While it will be possible to participate on the first day by invitation only, Saturday and Sunday the exhibition will be open to the public. Cavalieri Art Hotel hosts 'Artists for Ukraine' art exhibition Painting by Stephanie Mizzi: Fear in Ukraine THE captivating history of the Neolithic remains of Kordin III – the only megalithic remains dis- covered in the area in the past two centuries which have been preserved until today – will be explored in a morning of guided tours on Sunday, 15th May. The area of Corradino, intrinsically associated with the Grand Harbour, must have been a sig- nificant area in prehistory due to the concentra- tion of megalithic remains discovered there in the 19th and 20th centuries. Most of these finds have disappeared over the years due to military, and later industrial, devel- opment in the area. Kordin III, nowadays man- aged by Heritage Malta, stands as testimony to this rich heritage. This prehistoric complex was constructed over various phases of the Neolithic and consists of a series of megalithic buildings. It includes a unique paved forecourt and other features which are not found in other contemporary Ne- olithic buildings. Kordin III is not open to the public daily as are the more known neighbouring sites of the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum and Tarxien Prehistoric Complex. Therefore, the opportunity to visit the site as part of a guided tour is not to be missed. On the 15th of May, four guided tours will be held. There will be two tours in Maltese (at 9.00am and 10.30am), and two tours in English (at 9.45am and 11.15am). Places are limited so participants need to pre-book tickets from any Heritage Malta site or museum, or online on shop.heritagemalta.org. Tickets cost €3. Kordin III is located just outside the Corradi- no Lines, between the Church of St. Anthony of Padua and MCAST College in Paola. Guided tours at Kordin III, a little-known prehistoric gem
