Developing new skills CareMalta Group does not only has the wellness of its resi- dents at heart but also that of its employees by improving their skills, developing new ones and continuously improving the work environment. That is why in 2018, iCare was launched, built on CareMalta's 29-year- long experience as a leader in the business of care for the el- derly. iCare is CareMalta's excel- lence training programme for its employees based on three core values, the language of Professionalism, Engagement, and Compassion. CareMalta's employees are also given the opportunity to enroll in programmes offered at Learning Works, another subsidiary company of Vassallo Group, which provides courses in Health and Social Care, Man- agement, and Sport amongst other areas. Through these courses, Care- Malta's employees can further enhance and develop skills nec- essary to achieve intellectual and personal growth which will ultimately reflect in their day- to-day work with the residents. For instance, starting this June, Learning Works is once again offering its EQF/MQF Level 4 Award in Mental Health Support and Care course, aimed mostly at individuals currently working as care assistants in a residential or hospital setting and social care assistants. Compassion CareMalta prides itself in treating all residents as individ- uals and this is highly empha- sised also through HILA, Home to Independence and Limitless Abilities. HILA is an entity set up by CareMalta to offer a range of specialised services to persons with disability, men- tal health conditions, ALS, and other motor neuron diseases. HILA manages Casa Apap Bologna in Mosta, Dar Bjorn in Qormi and Casal Nuovo in Paola.
