maltatoday | SUNDAY • 8 MAY 2022 10 ELDERLY CARE Respite at Simblija Care Home PEOPLE often worry about their elderly relatives being left alone. "How will mum manage while I am abroad on holiday? What will dad do when mum needs to have an operation? Is there anywhere I can have my mum stay for a while as I need some respite? What shall I do when my dad's full-time carer goes abroad?" But anyone can get tired at some point in their lives and need a break. People could be at a point in their lives that require them to go abroad for work rea- sons. And some could be indis- posed due to surgery or illness. In many families, one family member often ends up caring for a relative. And sometimes, these people too might need a short break of respite or to trav- el on work commitments or on a family holiday. Whatever the reason may be, they should all be able to do so with peace of mind, safe in the knowledge that while they are away, their spouse, sibling, mum, or dad, are being cared for. Based on the life stories of clients and families, AX Care recognised the importance of offering peace of mind and re- assurance. This is Simblija Care firmly believes in a partnership in care, at times when it is most needed, by offering peace of mind when a person is the most worried about health outcomes or time away from those they care for and love. At Simblija Care Home a res- ident's stay will not happen in a hospital environment but in a care home surrounded by beautiful open areas, with love- ly interiors and spacious rooms, where family and friends can visit all day. One will have the peace of mind that there are nursing pro- fessionals and trained care assis- tants 24/7 to see to the needs of a loved one and that at a push of a buzzer someone is there to assist in whatever is needed. A variety of food is provided daily, served in a spacious res- taurant prepared by in-house chefs who also provide for any dietary and health require- ments. A full activity schedule makes sure that activities are held all daily so that residents have full days of things to do or places to go to. Simblija Care Home promotes a sense of community that makes sure that residents min- gle and chat together eliminat- ing any sense of loneliness. Its respite packages are tai- lored for any length of stay de- pending on need. This may be booked in advance allowing one to be able to plan ahead. The team at Simblija Care Home is always available to have a chat and present all op- tions for clients to be able to choose the best way forward for themselves and, above all, for their loved ones.
