maltatoday | SUNDAY • 17 JULY 2022 5 MUSIC Orchestral activity at Pjazza Teatru Rjal ON Friday 22 July, Pjazza Tea- tru Rjal welcomes the Almeers Jeugd Symfonie Orkest from the Netherlands. The orchestra, made up of around 80 excep- tionally talented young mu- sicians under the direction of Hans Welle, will be perform- ing an eclectic program rang- ing from Beethoven, Bizet and Strauss to John Williams and Henry Mancini. Based in the city of Almere in the central part of the Netherlands, this orchestra is considered one of the best youth orchestras in the country having performed extensively in Almere, through- out the Netherlands and also across Europe in Tuscany, Ber- lin, Barcelona, London and in is such prestigious locations as the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and The Musikv- erein in Vienna. Entrance to the concert is free but there will be a retiring collection in aid of the The Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation. In August and September, the Malta Concert Orchestra makes a return following the extremely successful start to its 2022 sum- mer season with A Night at the Musicals on 3 June and MCO Pop on 8 July, the Malta Concert Orchestra has more exciting programmes in store for its ever growing audience. Next in line is an Elton John Tribute on 5 August followed by The name's Bond ... on 26 August, natural- ly featuring the epic music of James Bond films. In September, the Malta Concert Orchestra will make a much anticipated re- turn to its 2022 edition of Notte Italiana on 2 September while the last of its summer concerts will be the MCO Queen Tribute on 16 September. Now in its fifth season, Pjazza Teatru Rjal's own Malta Con- cert Orchestra is fast establish- ing itself as a major player on the local cultural scene. The orchestra's talented musicians together with leading local sing- ers, under the direction of asso- ciate conductors Maestro Paul Abela and Maestro Joe Brown, have proved time and again that the Malta Concert Orchestra is the perfect blend of high-lev- el productions with accessable culture.
