maltatoday | SUNDAY • 10 JULY 2022 7 PHOTOGRAPHY Humanity at War: Reflections exhibition From Ukraine to Syria, a Photographic Exhibition covering the Civilian Perspective of Ongoing and Recent Wars by international photojournalists Darrin Zammit Lupi and Heidi Levine FROM Ukraine to Syria, a Pho- tographic Exhibition cover- ing the Civilian Perspective of Ongoing and Recent Wars by international photojournalists Darrin Zammit Lupi and Heidi Levine. Darrin Zammit Lupi and Heidi Levine give us a timeless portrayal of human suffering as they capture the pain and anguish of a people who are forced into war. They make us look at this phenomenon and see what we do not want to be- lieve. Zammit Lupi visited the polish borders to photograph refugees in transit as they flee from their country whilst Lev- ine, currently on assignment in Ukraine for the Washington Post, has been living war in Ukraine capturing human sto- ries of a nation impacted by the war. Both photographers have deeply captured the strength of Ukrainians in the face of suffer- ing. This year Malta Enterprise directs its corporate social re- sponsibility to highlight the humanity in wars and make us reflect on the disruptions to the development of the social and economic fabric of nations. Malta Enterprise is highly com- mitted to create events that can help make a change, which can contribute actively to drive fur- ther the development and well- being of society at large. The exhibition presents us with striking images covering six wars. From the current wars in Ukraine and Syria to the on- going flare ups in Libya, Pal- estine and Israel to the recent wars in Bosnia and Kosovo. As they document the impact of war on civilian life, these im- ages become testimony to the great acts of bravery and resil- ience that come to light during war. Malta Enterprise invites the public to visit this unique exhi- bition which is being organised at Malta Enterprise premises in G'Mangia. Exhibition is open until the 23rd July 2022. Open- ing hours: 09h00 – 12hrs & 18hrs – 20hrs. Saturday & Sun- day from 18h00 – 20h00 Raised funds will go towards the Ukrainian civilians who fled to Malta because of the war and to support the building of 'Becs' Junior Secondary school in Ethiopia, in memory of 15-year old Rebecca Zammit Lupi who died in 2021 from a rare form of cancer.
