maltatoday | SUNDAY • 24 JULY 2022 14 COMMERCIAL MCAST hosts 2022 IBMC Fexserv Awards THE MCAST Institute of Busi- ness Management and Com- merce (IBMC) proudly hosted the 2022 IBMC Fexserv Awards at the College's Main Campus in Paola. An event that brought together academic staff and stu- dents to celebrate the students' success. Fexserv Fund Services Limit- ed, one of Malta's leading finan- cial services providers, spon- sored the award ceremony and presented eight awards to the winners. Students reading for a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Business Enterprise and others reading for a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Financial Services Management participated in this year's IBMC Fexserv Awards. Leanne Said was the first over- all student during this year's award ceremony for the Bache- lor of Science (Hons) in Finan- cial Services Management. Aid- en Catania Borg was awarded first in Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business Enterprise. For the first time since the be- ginning of this award ceremony, two new awards were presented, namely, the 'Principal's Award', which was awarded to Ms Tes- marie Busuttil and the 'Direc- tor's Award', which was awarded to Mr Justin Formosa. Both stu- dents follow a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business Enterprise. During the event, MCAST Principal and CEO, Professor Joachim James Calleja and IBMC Director Mr Andrew Galea con- gratulated the students on their achievements. They highlighted the importance of hosting such events, which major industry players not only in shaping and mentoring future generations but playing a key role in forming course content. At IBMC, students are provid- ed with a unique platform where academic learning is blended with hands-on experience, em- powering the student with a bet- ter understanding of the needs within the industry. Professor Calleja also thanked Anabel Mifsud, Managing Di- rector of Fexserv Fund Services and Lawrence Buttigieg, Alpine Group's CEO, for their dedica- tion and firm in students. Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli visits Inspire Foundation Malta and launches the 80's & 90's Music Festival Ħal Kirkop INSPIRE Foundation Malta wel- comed Minister for Inclusion, Voluntary Organisations and Consumer Rights Hon. Julia Farrugia Portelli for a tour of its Marsascala facility which cur- rently offers services for more than 400 attendees. Inspire Foundation Malta sup- ports people with disabilities in achieving their true potential through the provision of specif- ic strategies, materials and other resources that help each individ- ual's unique learning and partic- ipation in educational, therapeu- tic and leisure activities. The facilities include a mul- ti-sensory suite and a hydrother- apy pool among others. Inspire offers an array of services to assist those with learning disabilities including occupational therapy, communication therapy, physi- otherapy, therapeutic horseback riding, animal-assisted activities, dance and movement therapy and more. The foundation also has several specific programmes, namely the STEP intensive early interven- tion programme for young chil- dren, STEP Forward as well as LinC (Learning in Context), the School Outreach Programme, and STAR for young adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities. Minister Julia Farrugia Portel- li said how the collaboration between the St. Leonard Band Club, Ħal Kirkop and Inspire Foundation is a living testament to how much volunteering has a major role in terms of inclusion and the disability sector. She spoke about the Govern- ment's commitment to assist voluntary organisations through the various schemes within the voluntary sector that are issued during the year. She explained how this Concert will be aided through one of these schemes, namely, the Quality of Life scheme, and from which the St. Leonard Band Club has benefit- ed. Minister Farrugia Portelli praised the services offered by the Inspire Foundation, for the hope and courage that these ser- vices give not only to people with disabilities but also to their fam- ilies. Inspire CEO, Antonello Gauci explained how Inspire specialis- es in aiding those on the autism spectrum, those with profound multiple learning difficulties and those with behaviours of con- cern. Whilst the NGO receives gov- ernment funding for a number of its programmes, it still requires the support of public donations and other forms of fundraising to continue to invest in its highly specialised facilities in both Mal- ta and Gozo as well as its special- ised staff and services that grow in demand year upon year. The Inspire Give and Take Charity Thrift Shops also pro- vide a source of revenue for the foundation, selling second-hand items in good condition, also promoting a more sustainable way of living. One major upcoming fundrais- ing initiative is the 5th edition of the '80s and 90s Music Festival'. Organised by K Music Events. The festival is set to take place on 29th July 2022 at 20:00 hours at Hal Kirkop. The event is free to attend, but any donations upon entrance will be collected in aid of Inspire Malta. The concert will feature a Tina Turner tribute act called Typically Tina, as well as top local DJs Alex Reflex Grech, Sue Mifsud and Renato Vella. Mr Louis Zammit, President of St Leonard Band Club and the organisers of the festival also ex- pressed their enthusiasm to con- tribute to such a worthy cause and thanked Inspire for their trust in organising this event for the 5th year.
