With significant cross-sector experience including residen- tial, defence, transport and education, Ed's recent projects include Cambridge Science Park Bio-Hub; Arm Head- quarters, Peterhouse Technol- ogy Park, Cambridge interna- tional technology park, CABI Headquarters, and the award winning St Georges College Activity Centre. On Friday 26th August 2022 at the MUZA Courtyard in Valletta, Ed Hayden will give a presentation at this MASP event and will focus on the route to net zero, decarbonis- ing construction. In his presentation, Ed will speak about how the construc- tion industry plays a vital role in the world economy, creat- ing, operating and maintain- ing its physical infrastructure. It is also a major contributor to the world's carbon emis- sions, with energy consumed at every stage of the infra- structure lifecycle. Transformational change is needed if we are to achieve a low-carbon built environ- ment which can play its part in reaching the net zero target. At Scott Brownrigg they be- lieve in 'research based design' and use the knowledge gained to inform their Architecture. Low Carbon and sustainable design is at the heart of this process. A key question they contin- uously ask is, what needs to be done NOW to accelerate the rate of transition of construc- tion to a zero-carbon industry to best serve the needs of the planet?
