With a 20-year focus on the appli- cation of novel, data-driven technol- ogies, Gilkes brings years of industry proficiency and a wealth of experience in enterprise sales through roles at AT&T NCR and EPRO. He has been part of executive teams in both For- tune 500 public and start-up-venture backed private sector businesses and has spent several years working across sales strategy, product growth, and partnerships. At EBO, Gilkes, who started his career as a software developer, will be accountable for driving integra- tion and alignment between all reve- nue-related functions, including mar- keting, partner management, direct sales, customer support and revenue management. THE Malta Stock Exchange (MSE) will be hosting the prestigious General Assem- bly and Annual Meeting of the World Federation of Ex- changes (WFE) later this month, which will bring to- gether in Malta over 200 del- egates from all over the globe. The WFE annual meeting, which will take place over three days starting 27 Sep- tember 2022 at the Hilton Malta, will be one of the ma- jor global financial services events to take place in Malta. This will be the 61st Gener- al Assembly of the WFE. The 60th General Assembly and Annual Meeting took place virtually last year in Shen- zhen, China. During the Annual Meeting leaders of global exchanges, regulatory authorities, the buy-side, industry experts from academia and the media gather together for in-depth discussion on major issues surrounding the exchange in- dustry. Commenting on this event, MSE Chairman Joseph Portel- li said: "We look forward to welcome delegates from all over the world to Malta. Hosting WFE's General As- sembly and Annual Meeting is a unique opportunity for the MSE and I am sure that such a prestigious event will consolidate Malta as a repu- table financial jurisdiction. To host such an important event 30 years after starting our op- erations in 1992 makes it even more special." Portelli will be one of many speakers who will be address- ing the WFE Annual Meeting. In fact, following the General Assembly which will be held in the morning of 28 Septem- ber, Portelli will be joined by the CEO of the WFE Nand- ini Sukumar in the opening ceremony of the event. The Annual Meeting will feature various keynote speeches, plenary panel session as well as fireside chats. The speakers include for- eign delegates and CEOs of various exchanges from around the world, as well as local delegates and experts in the field from entities like Bloomberg, Nasdaq, Standard and Poor, BlackRock, JP Mor- gan, Saxo Capital Markets UK, United Nations Confer- ence on Trade and Develop- ment (UNCTAD), Interna- tional Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA), the Central Bank of Malta and the Malta Financial Services Au- thority and the Malta Stock Exchange. The meeting will cover a number of topics such as the role of market infrastructure through the pandemic and beyond, liquidity as the fun- damental building block for healthy and thriving markets, global markets and fragment- ing regulation, innovation in technology, the crypto mar- ket, ESG and others. Since its foundation in 1961, the WFE has organised com- mittees, meetings, general assemblies, conferences, and workshops for its members to transfer knowledge and share expertise. As an industry trade organi- sation, the WFE has discussed virtually every aspect of the capital market: the technical, the commercial, the legal and the economic. In the past four decades the WFE has pub- lished studies and reports on issues such as CCP recovery & resolution, business con- tinuity, self-regulation, cross border trading, HFT, sustain- ability, SMEs and cyber secu- rity.
