maltatoday | SUNDAY • 16 OCTOBER 2022 7 CINEMA Opera, ballet and arts showing at Eden Cinemas this year HIGH culture from the Royal Opera House is being broadcast live at the Eden Cinemas in St. Julian's all year round. Tallying seven operas, six ballets and four visual art screenings in to- tal for the upcoming year, this year marks their biggest cultural season yet for 2022/23. The full calendar of events is put together thanks to Eden Lei- sure Group and Eden Cinemas under the new brand, Eden Cin- eArts. The brand is dedicated to making excellent showings of culture easily accessible to our islands, by broadcasting them live on the big screen. The iconic classics, Madama Butterfly and Mayerling, have already kicked off the season, having been shown in cinemas over the past couple of weeks. However, there is still a long way to go until the roster of shows comes to an end. Eden CineArts is bringing the Royal Opera House to Malta with classic operas such as The Barber of Seville, Il Trovatore, Aida, The Marriage of Figaro, La Bohème and Turandot. All shows feature stellar casts and outstanding scores. They are broadcast live from London in pristine quality, fully immersing the audience. Beyond opera, The Eden Cin- emas will also be showing six beautiful ballet performances throughout the year, with whim- sical tales like The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty, Cinder- ella, and Like Water for Choc- olate, transporting viewers to fantastical lands. The season al- so features a dazzling showcase of talent with The Royal Ballet: A Diamond Celebration, com- memorating 60 years of the Roy- al Ballet. Visual arts also share the spot- light on the calendar. Four dis- tinct shows will be shown, each highlighting varied art styles and historical periods, brilliantly ex- plained and showcased. These showings offer something be- yond performance based screen- ings, making it a vastly different way of enjoying the cinema. The shows include Tutankhamun. The Last Exhibition, The Vati- can Museum, Venice. Infinitely Avant-Garde and Napoleon. In the Name of Art. All tickets for all upcoming shows are readily available on- line from edencinemas.com.mt for the entire year to be planned with culture in mind.
