2 NEWS 03.11.2022 MONEYBASE has won the Best Finan- cial Institution Award at the Malta Busi- ness Awards held last Friday 28 October. Moneybase also won a runner-up award for the Innovative Business Award. Alan Cuschieri, CEO and founder of Moneybase, said: "We are proud to have achieved the prestigious award of Best Financial Institution during our first year of operation. We have been ded- icated to ensuring that Moneybase is offered at the highest standards possi- ble and we are now seeing the results. I would like to thank our customers for their continuous support and all our employees for producing such a great product and service." e awards ceremony took place at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Val- letta, where over twenty local business- es received distinguished awards from Malta's commerce landscape. Commenting on what comes next for Moneybase, Mr. Cuschieri said, "We have just launched joint accounts, which allow Moneybase customers to switch from their personal account to their joint account and to have a sep- arate card for each, and we have more exciting functionality, which will be an- nounced early next year." e Malta Business Awards, which are presented by the Malta Chamber of SMEs and Malta Enterprise, give rec- ognition to the best performing busi- nesses. e initiative presents awards under four separate categories: Cele- brating Business, Business Innovation, Distinct Initiatives and Green Ambas- sadors. Moneybase, which is part of the Calamatta Cuschieri Finance Group, is this year's winner in the prestigious Cel- ebrating Business category. Independent judges selected 100 fi- nalists out of more than 300 nomina- tions, with the winners then picked in a second round of judging after finalists were able to showcase their business' achievements. e highly anticipated event was at- tended by over 600 guests, including finalists, business leaders and VIPs, rep- resenting the most prominent names from the local business sector and ma- jor industry stakeholders. Moneybase is part of the Calamatta Cuschieri Finance Group. As a next-generation financial plat- form, Moneybase provides investments and payments in a single ecosystem backed by local ISO certified custom- er support. Customers can send and receive person-to-person payments, as well as make both domestic and in- ternational transfers. Moneybase may be downloaded from the App Store or Play Store, and the Moneybase Mastercard may be ordered for free from the app itself. With Mon- eybase Invest, users can invest locally on the Malta Stock Exchange or tap into over 40 international markets with over 20,000 stocks, ETFs, bonds and funds through the award-winning plat- form. e platform also offers fraction- al shares and extended hours trading, which provide an additional 9.5 hours of US market access. Moneybase wins Best Financial Institution Award Melita rewarded for customer service and carbon neutrality THE telecoms service provider se- cured first runner-up in Customer Service Excellence and Carbon Neu- trality Commitment in the first Mal- ta Business Awards event organised on Friday by the Malta Chamber of SMEs in collaboration with Malta En- terprise. The Melita Foundation was also a finalist in the Best CSR Initiative cat- egory, for its contribution towards Maltese society by supporting pro- jects that help develop digital skills and creativity, as well as ones that protect and conserve our heritage and the environment. Melita CEO Harald Roesch wel- comed the recognition, and said he was extremely proud of the progress the company had made in delivering customer service excellence over the past six years: "This award mirrors the independent survey where customers rated Melita a Customer Satisfaction score of 9.1 out of 10. We will contin- ue to deliver our promises and feel the pulse of our customers to further en- hance our customers' experience." Equally rewarding was a nod towards Melita's work to build on its carbon neutral status, aiming to reduce emis- sions by a minimum of 42 per cent by 2030 in line with its commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Focused on being a market leader in the field, Melita has also recently cre- ated a new section on its website ded- icated solely to sustainability and its commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. e awards recognise two of Melita's four pillars to care for customers, so- ciety, employees and the planet in its drive to enrich our future, digitally.
