maltatoday | SUNDAY • 4 DECEMBER 2022 14 COMMERCIAL Second Invitation to bid for large and medium renewable energy installations opens in January 2023 OVER the years, the local busi- ness community has become acutely aware of the need to transition towards, and in- vest in, sustainable commer- cial projects. For the second consecutive year, the Maltese Government recently launched a scheme to encourage the de- velopment of large renewable energy projects such as solar farms and wind turbines. The Regulator for Energy and Water Services launched two separate schemes, each with five invitations to bid (ITB), which will be running consecutive- ly. The second of these two schemes' ITBs will be open during January 2023. The first scheme is for the installation of renewable energy systems with capacities from 40kW up to less than 200kW, while the second scheme is open for larg- er systems, from 200kW up to less than 1000kW. Following the first call for submission of bids in October 2022, the next four calls will be open between Wednesday, 4th January and Thursday, 12th January 2023; between Wednesday, 5th April and Thursday, 13th April 2023; between Tuesday, 4th July and Wednesday, 12th July, 2023; and between Tuesday, 3rd Oc- tober and Wednesday, 11th October 2023. This investment will also address Malta's steadfast and unwaver- ing commitment to combat cli- mate change and its impacts. Marsovin releases first vintage of barrel aged ON Friday 2nd December Mar- sovin first released its first vin- tage of barrel aged Chardonnay - Antonin Riżerva 2020 vintage. The wine was released during wine and dine event organised by Marsovin and Bahia restaurant, whereby guests were offered the opportunity to taste a number of premium Marsovin wines, amongst them were Grand Mai- tre old vintages and Cassar De Malte. The Antonin range was first produced over 25 years and is an established wine amongst Mal- tese wine enthusiasts. The 2020 vintage, was produced from Chardonnay grapes harvested from Marsovin's privately owned estate in the Ramla Valley, Gozo. The quality of the grapes for this vintage were very encouraging so much so that our winemaking team decided to age our char- donnay grapes for just over two years in French oak barrels. This was a first for us and a challenge which we had not undertaken previously. "Tasting Antonin Blanc Rizer- va after two years in oak, to find out that the wine had matured so elegantly was encouraging, we look forward to producing more vintages of this wine, when na- ture allows us to." - Jeremy Cas- sar, Marsovin. The production of this wine was limited to only 300 bottles and will be available for sale as of 5th December from The Marsovin Cellars and leading restaurants and wine shops. Street Smart drives road safety campaign to primary children THE fun yet educational Street Smart project is once again driv- ing its road safety message to chil- dren attending primary schools across Malta and Gozo. Fun- dación MAPFRE, in collaboration with Malta Public Transport is launching yet another innovative educational initiative aiming at teaching young children how to be safe on the road through three interactive video clips, which are further split into 25 steps, that can be watched in class at the chosen pace of the teacher. Speaking at the launch held at San Anton School, Mr Javier. Moreno, CEO at MAPFRE Mid- dlesea and local representative of Fundación MAPFRE in Malta said: "We are very pleased that over the years Fundación MAP- FRE has been supporting this pro- ject which has reached thousands of students of various ages across the country. Both road and trans- port safety are crucial and more important than ever considering the large amount of vehicles we have on our roads. We believe that the unique way in which these les- sons are delivered by this project will help these young children be more aware about safety and will also deliver a memorable experi- ence for the children." The educational videos, which are available in the English lan- guage, are aimed at young chil- dren, aged between four and eight. These videos follow Safety Sue's journey across the Street Smart game board, together with a diverse group of children, as they learn about different topics related to road safety. The topics include following traffic signs, being safe as a pedestrian and use of pedes- trian traffic lights, being safe as a passenger in a car and the impor- tance of wearing a seat belt, being safe as a passenger on the bus and as a cyclist on the road; being safe whilst walking and travelling with animals, and potential distractions such as use of mobile devices. Cast members include Leah Mifsud as Safety Sue, young singers Ike and Kaya as DJ and Inspector Ines, and many more young talented stu- dents from Stagecoach Malta. The video was produced by StageIt Malta in collaboration with Malta Public Transport and Fundación MAPFRE. Interested primary schools are being invited to register through this link or by sending an email to colea@publictransport.com. mt. Participating schools will re- ceive a soft copy of the worksheet pack together with the link to the videos. Teachers of students who would have watched all three videos can request Street Smart certificates to presented to the children, together with a small gift as a memento of the Street Smart journey. Registrations are being offered free of charge on a first- come, first-served basis. For more information one can contact, Audrey Cole on colea@ publictransport.com.mt.
