7 CHRISTMAS maltatoday | SUNDAY • 18 DECEMBER 2022 Make magical memories at Esplora this Christmas 'TIS the season to celebrate with family and friends, enjoy a deli- cious roast dinner, drink mulled wine and hot cocoa, decorate your home and give presents. 'Tis the season to make memo- ries with family and friends! The team at Esplora under- stands the importance of the fes- tive season for Maltese families and, because of this, they have created an event combining the magic of Christmas with the fas- cination for science. Christmas at Esplora kicks off on the 17th of December 2022, with themed activities being of- fered till Sunday, 8th January 2023. To add to this fantastic experience, during this period, Esplora will be offering one free child entrance with every paying adult. This offer is valid for chil- dren aged 15 years and under. During Esplora's Christmas event, visitors will have the op- portunity to explore the wonders of the festive season through sci- ence and technology related ac- tivities designed for all members of the family. Families visiting during the holidays can choose to join in a hands-on workshop, watch a science show, partici- pate in a storytelling session, or immerse themselves in a Plane- tarium film. The science show on offer dur- ing this period is Lights, Camera, Action! and it is ideal for all those who are fascinated with movies. During the show, visitors will be asked to join Esplora's film crew as they capture some classic ele- ments of a Christmas movie by using science and technology to create special effects, visual ef- fects, and sound effects! Once Upon a Christmas is an activity that takes children, aged 3-6 years old, on an interactive storytelling journey with Santa Claus to explore how families in Malta and Gozo celebrate Christmas. Santa's Sleigh Workshop is de- signed for a slightly older audi- ence as visitors are asked to build a sphero-powered sleigh for San- ta using K'NEX, and to drive it on a map of our islands to deliver presents. If you have not experienced the Planetarium at Esplora yet, now's the perfect time to im- merse yourselves in this experi- ence. For Christmas, Esplora is introducing a new Planetarium Film – Dinosaurs, A Story of Survival – which tells the story of a young girl, Celeste, who talks to her friend Moon about dinosaurs and their transformations over millions of years. While you're at Esplora, take a family photo on Santa's sleigh, enjoy a festive treat from the Christmas Specials Menu at the EsploraCafé, or visit the Esplora- Shop and browse a vast selection of educational items and gifts for science enthusiasts of all ages. Entrance tickets for this event can be bought online from show- shappening.com or else upon entry at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets cover the entrance to Esplora's main exhibition galleries only. A sci- ence show or workshop or plane- tarium film/show can be booked per visitor at an extra charge of €1 at the Esplora reception only.
