The new Toyota Aygo X – at 0% interest rate PAUL COCKS MALTA International Airport Chief Executive Officer Alan Borg has had his contract ex- tended for another term expir- ing in February 2027. In a statement, the compa- ny said its Board of Directors had approved the extension of Borg's contract up to February 2027. Borg was appointed CEO at MIA in January 2015 and has, since then, led the airport team with a vision of service excellence and put the guest experience at the core of the company's strategy. In January 2020, MIA ex- tended Borg's contract for another term until February 2024, with the Board stress- ing that the renewal of the CEO's contract would ensure that continuity is maintained at the highest levels of deci- sion-making at a time when there were several investment projects that would see the long-term development of the airport campus. Of course, those plans came to a quick halt with the onset of COVID-19 and the mitigat- ing measures put in place to combat the spread of the pan- demic. Following the announcement of the latest extension to Borg's contract, MIA chairman Nikolaus Gretzmacher said that continuity at the highest levels of decision-making is crucial as the company con- tinues to evolve through large- scale investments and aim for sustainable growth. "I am confident that Mr Borg's leadership and under- standing of the industry will support the company in real- ising its ambitious investment programme, particularly in completing the Apron X and SkyParks 2 projects together with the first phase of the ter- minal expansion," he said. Service excellence, environ- mental sustainability and in- vestment have been the hall- marks of Borg's seven-year tenure at the helm of MIA. Under his leadership, MIA won several awards in recog- nition of the excellent service delivered to guests, undergone a number of upgrades – in- cluding a terminal reconfigu- ration - which have contrib- uted to a more seamless guest experience, and more recently inaugurated a new multi-sto- rey car park.
