maltatoday | SUNDAY • 19 MARCH 2023 10 COMMERCIAL Baladin's Teo Musso tells his story in 'Italian Genius' TEO Musso has been chosen by RAI (Italian national televi- sion) to tell his story and that of his Baladin brewery in 'Italian Genius', the series dedicated to leading figures of 'Made in Italy' known and appreciated throughout the world for their ability to innovate. Teo Musso's story is that of a rebel entrepreneur who, start- ing from a constant need for change and animated by a crazy vision, becomes one of the most significant representatives of a new way of understanding beer: strictly artisanal and preferably to be combined with food. A revolution that Musso carries on by structurally modifying the physiognomy of his city through the creation of a pub, an underground beer-duct and a state-of-the-art brewery that attracts tourists and enthusiasts from all over the world. In this episode Musso tells his story, from his farmer's or- igins and the relationship with his parents to the desire for re- bellion and his always creative and nonconformist choices. He talks about the beginnings of his brewing career, from the pub in Piozzo, his native village, to the modern factory three kilo- metres from the house where he was born. In just over thirty minutes Musso reveals the motivations that led him to make all the vi- sionary and risky choices that made him one of the most in- fluential brewers in the world and a point of reference for all those who approach the mag- ical world of craft beer and its pairing with food. Teo Musso – Italian Ge- nius is available for viewing here: https://www.raiplay. i t / v i d e o / 2 0 2 3 / 0 1 / T e o - M u s - s o - - - I t a l i a n - G e n i u s - d e l - 2 5 0 1 2 0 2 3 - 1 f 5 1 f a 4 3 - b f 0 f - 455a-8918-170126118863.html. The Baladin range of craft beer is imported, marketing and distributed by Farsons Bever- age Imports Company (FBIC) Limited and is available at Far- sonsdirect, The Brewery, Mdina Road, Zone 2, Central Business District, Birkirkara or online www.farsonsdirect.com. Birds at Salina Nature Park get extra tree shelter CLOSE to 40 trees were re- cently planted in Salina by Melita Limited employees who donated their time and money to do something tan- gible for the environment. The event at the Salina Nature Park, organised to coincide with EU Sustaina- bility Week, ties in with one of The Melita Foundation projects, to fund the plant- ing of 1,000 trees through the Saġġar Project. Saġġar is an ambitious project that aims to sow and plant a million trees and shrubs of the native geno- type and rehabilitate eco- logical reserves, public land and private lands. Most of the saplings plant- ed at Salina's Nature Park are Tamarix africana Poir (1789) — African Tama- risk or Bruka in Maltese — which are indigenous to the Maltese Islands and inhab- it marshlands and coastal habitats. These trees are well suited to Salina, with its brackish water. In the summer, when the salt content in the water is very high, the roots absorb the water and eliminate the salt from their leaves. The trees at the park, which is managed by BirdLife Mal- ta, will provide the perfect habitat for the different res- ident and migrating birds that choose to rest and nest in the nature reserve, as well as shielding the birds from light and noise pollution from the nearby roads and buildings.
