Msida hosts Red Bull Mind the Gap event
ON Saturday night, the popu-
lar Msida square in front of the
local church, was turned into a
skatepark to host the first ever
Red Bull Mind the Gap on the
island.
With skateboarding on the rise
again in Malta, thanks to new
skateparks around the island
and the newly established Mal-
ta Street Sport Association, Red
Bull Mind the Gap was the right
concept for the local communi-
ty.
30 skaters took part in the
event in 3 different categories -
Beginners, Advanced and a Fe-
male Competition.
Marc Gauci and Braydon Borg
won the Best Trick and the Big-
gest Gap respectively in the
Beginners Competition, with
Alexandra Cali taking home
the Female Competition. Sean
Bowles won the best trick at the
advanced competition, and Zach
Perici Calascione won the Big-
gest gap, after a fierce battle with
Lev Schembri.
More than 500 spectators en-
joyed the skateboarding contest,
together with some music from
Malta's top hip hop artists and
DJs.
The event was organised with
the collaboration of the Malta
Street Sport Association, the
Malta Skateboarding Associa-
tion and supported by Urban
Jungle.
