10 COMMERCIAL 11.5.2023 British feature film shot entirely in Malta to generate €2.3 million BRITISH feature film Compulsion that is being shot in Malta has a crew of 103 members working on the pro- duction of which 88 are Maltese. The production will generate over €2.3 million into the economy. Prin- cipal photography started on 11 April and runs through 13 May, with 100% of the shooting happening in Mal- ta. Post-production is also primarily Malta-based, with only 0.5% taking place abroad. The figures were given during a visit to the set by Malta Film Commission- er Johann Grech. The production is being made pos- sible with the assistance of the Malta Film Commission through the 40% cash rebate initiative. "We are proud to support 'Compul- sion,' a film that not only showcases the stunning beauty of Malta but also creates substantial economic benefits for the country. This collaboration highlights the importance of nurtur- ing local talent and further establishes Malta as a prime location for interna- tional film production," Grech said. Polish actress Anna-Maria Siekluc- ka, shared her positive impressions of working in Malta, remarking: "The experience of shooting here has been truly enjoyable, thanks to the won- derful crew, the warm and welcoming people, and the pleasant weather con- ditions." British actress Charlotte Kirk, star- ring in the film and being touted to be the next Bond girl, praised the dis- tinctive and varied locations in Mal- ta. "Not only do the locations offer a unique charm and rich history, but the genuine warmth and hospitality of the people here have truly made this experience unforgettable," Kirk said. British Director Neil Marshall shared his enthusiasm about the experience of filming in Malta for the first time. He said the entire process of shooting in Malta has been truly enjoyable.
