"I strongly believe that we should build
for our time and need to find appropriate
ways to create harmony with traditional
buildings. Modern buildings in Malta
is a vague subject as money, greed and
inconsistent planning policies have
resulted in a questionable architectural
period for us."
In a frank interview, architects Alan Galea
and Simon Grech, co-founders of MODEL
share their thoughts with us and their
concerns as they navigate the narrow
straits of creative work and the fast pace
of development. There appears to be a
genuine concern with Maltese architects
about the meaningful work of the architect
as a creative individual engaged in making
use of space in the best possible way.
The two architects harp about the
importance of having clients who believe
in their works and allow them to complete
their dreams. Which put bluntly means
improving the quality of the built and
unbuilt environment without destroying
the soul of a project.
This edition also takes a glance at Maltese
facades with their intricate work with
Maltese stone. Apart from features on
interior design from a spatial and colour
viewpoint.
Enjoy this magazine as the feel of summer
takes over our lives.
