maltatoday | SUNDAY • 24 SEPTEMBER 2023 7 ALMANAC Nature Notebook 885. Black Stork ALL birds are wonderful but some species have that extra je ne sais quoi. One such bird – for me at least – is the black stork. Whenever I am lucky to follow one with my binoculars across the sky, I always find afterwards that I had been holding my breath! We don't exactly see black storks (M. ċikonja sewda) every day and though they are seen every year – usually at this time of year (one or two seen over the past week) – it is often just a handful of sightings. Globally, black storks are much rarer than their cousins the white storks, and much less gregarious too. Black storks nest in forest, with a nice marshy area nearby where to quietly fish for frogs. British actress Sophie Turner has sued her singer ex-partner Joe Jonas - requesting he return their two children to their "habitual residence" England. The celebrity couple announced earlier this month that they were divorcing after more than four years of marriage. It will create 4,000 "direct or indirect" jobs across the country, according to the media giant. On Thursday, lawyers for Turner, 27, filed a legal petition citing the "wrongful detention" of their children in New York.
