GAZA is facing an overwhelming
humanitarian crisis with Israel's re-
lentless bombing campaign displac-
ing more than 140,000 people, ac-
cording to a UN refugee agency.
UNRWA, the agency for Palestine
refugees, said on Tuesday people were
sheltering in UN-run schools and the
displacement continued "en masse".
"The scale of the crisis is overwhelm-
ing," UNRWA spokesperson Tamara
Alrifai in Amman told journalists.
The UN has turned its schools in the
Gaza Strip into shelters but the re-
sponse was complicated, Alrifai said,
because airstrikes damaged 18 UNR-
WA facilities, including the agency's
headquarters in Gaza City.
