2 NEWS 26.10.2023 THE 17th Dynare conference organ- ised by the Economic Research De- partment of the Central Bank of Mal- ta, together with DSGE-net, and the Dynare project at CEPREMAP was held at the Bank's Binja Laparelli be- tween the 19th to 20th October 2023. The conference comprised of 60 presentations and was attended by international participants from cen- tral banks and academic institutions. The topics of the studies presented focused on the modeling of climate change, energy policy and commodity prices, Central Bank Digital Curren- cy, Monetary Policy and small open economies within a monetary union. The keynote speakers were Profes- sor John Hassler from the Institute for International Economic Studies, Stockholm University on the theme "A Macroeconomist's Thoughts on Climate Change and Climate Poli- cy" and Professor Frank Smets from the European Central Bank and Gh- ent University who spoke about "The optimal quantity of CBDC in a bank- based economy". The conference was also addressed by the Governor of the Central Bank of Malta, Professor Edward Scicluna, and the Bank's Chief Economist, Dr Aaron G. Grech. Dynare is a software platform for handling a wide class of economic models, in particular dynamic sto- chastic general equilibrium (DSGE) models. It allows to perform stochastic and perfect foresight simulations, and to estimate parameters with Maximum Likelihood, Bayesian methods and Methods of moments in a user-friend- ly way. Various public bodies (central banks, ministries of economy and finance, international organisations) and some private financial institutions use Dynare for performing policy analy- sis exercises and as a support tool for forecasting exercises. In the academic world, Dynare is used for research and teaching pur- poses in postgraduate macroeconom- ics courses. Melita will be presented with the award for the second time at this year's 'HR Transform – the Future of Work' conference and expo organised by the Malta Foundation for Human Resource Development (FHRD) . e HR Quality Mark is awarded for a period of three years to organi- sations based in Malta for the profes- sionalism, competency and contribu- tion of their HR function. Jacqueline Abela, Head of Human Resources at Melita Limited, said: "Melita is delighted to have signifi- cantly exceeded the levels required to obtain FHRD certification. is is a testament to our high-quality HR practices and we will continue to work hard as a team to build on the positive and inclusive environment we have created for all our employ- ees." e FHRD carried out a thorough evaluation process of Melita's HR practices.
