This memorable trip not only marked their well-deserved recognition but also highlighted the outstanding camaraderie, ex- ceptional performance, and un- wavering teamwork that define the Mellieha branch. It's an in- credible honour for them, mark- ing their third time receiving this esteemed award, having previous- ly clinched this title in 2013 and 2021. Accompanied by Northern Regional Manager, Patrick Xuer- eb, the Mellieha team consisted of a dynamic group of sales consult- ants, made up of Jacqueline Borg, Charles Gauci, Claudio Fenech, Michelle Bezzina, and Konrad Bonnici, along with branch secre- tary Jacqueline Micallef. Their ad- venture in Barcelona was nothing short of extraordinary. They ex- plored the city's rich history with a captivating tour of the Gothic Quarter, visited iconic landmarks like the awe-inspiring Sagrada Fa- milia, the enchanting Güell Park, and the artistic wonder of Casa Batllò. The team also had the op- portunity to enjoy delightful expe- riences at the Barcelona Zoo and L'Aquàrium de Barcelona. And, of course, no Barcelo- na journey would be complete without savouring some of the city's culinary delights. The team indulged in the renowned pa- ella, paired with ample servings of sangria. Their evenings were filled with vibrant rhythms as they danced the night away at the lively Pacha nightclub. Patrick Xuereb expressed his thoughts on the trip, saying, "This trip provided a unique opportuni- ty for us to bond further, to foster new memories as a team and con- nect beyond our usual work envi- ronment. I am immensely proud of each team member for their unwavering dedication and com- mitment to delivering the highest level of service to our clients." BOV celebrates with Employees Anniversary event BANK of Valletta hosted an event for around 200 of its employees at the Lime- stone Heritage in Siggiewi, celebrating their employment anniversary at the Bank. These colleagues were commemorating between 15 to 45 years in the Bank's em- ploy where the event brought together a number of employees that have witnessed the evolution of the banking and financial services industry in Malta and the way that Bank of Valletta continued to develop its banking business in the process to become Malta's largest and leading banking and fi- nancial services provider. The Bank's CEO Kenneth Farrugia re- marked that in today's labour market, em- ployee retention has become increasingly challenging, which makes such occasions even more special, and certainly worth cel- ebrating. "Bank of Valletta is today actively transforming its business and operational model to strengthen its leadership posi- tion in the market. This change program is supported by highly talented individuals with diverse skills and experiences operat- ing across the business, support, and con- trol functions of the Bank. Whilst Bank of Valletta will be celebrating its 50th year in 2024, and has a rich history behind it, the Bank is dynamically transforming itself into a forward-looking and highly focused organization aiming to remain a leader and innovator in the market." The need for a diverse and inclusive work- force is a must in today's modern-day em- ployment reality. Within this context, the Bank's goal to attract the required human capital entails not only recruiting the right talent to support the Bank's aspirations and ambitions, but also ensuring that employ- ees from diverse backgrounds feel a sense of belonging and engagement in a dynam- ic organization. Mr Ray Debattista, BOV's People and Culture Officer spoke about the Bank's efforts to position the bank as the employer of choice in the banking sector. Employment with Bank of Valletta opens up a myriad of experiences for employees seeking to develop a career in banking and financial services. International auction raises over €60,000 to help save Valletta skyline An international online timed auction has raised an incredible €60,600 for the Save the Valletta Skyline Appeal. Hosted by the acclaimed Belgravia Auc- tioneers and held between Saturday 30 Sep- tember and Sunday 15 October, the auction boasted an extraordinary selection of lots donated from Malta, the UK, France, the US, and Australia. Such a virtual treasure trove also inspired international interest, with winning bids hailing from the UK, Mal- ta and US. Sold to these lucky bidders, the catalogue featured unmissable experiences including luxury stays at top global destina- tions, tickets to major sporting events such as Wimbledon or Goodwood, private flights and boat charters, and even a soiree with Jo- seph Calleja. The auction's collection of one- of-a-kind treasures and stunning jewellery and antiques also attracted overseas bids, such as a handmade Swarovski crystal tiara as worn by Lady Edith on popular TV series Downton Abbey, by Andrew Prince Jewel- lery. Every cent of the final sum of €60,600 raised through the auction will now take the Save the Valletta Skyline Appeal a significant step closer to its goal of restoring St Paul's Anglican Pro Cathedral. A vital feature of the iconic Valletta skyline and an impor- tant part of Malta's built heritage, St Paul's Anglican Pro-Cathedral requires urgent structural restoration works to its belltower, spire and stonework, which is ongoing. The Appeal was launched in 2017 to raise the approximate €9 million needed to complete the works, and the success of the auction has continued to attract an impressive list of fol- lowers and supporters worldwide, putting the Appeal and its crucial cause on the inter- national map.
