11 NEWS maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 8 NOVEMBER 2023 THE multidisciplinary exhi- bition, "Possible Worlds," is a remarkable collaborative project organised by the Arts Council Malta, that sets it apart from the rest. Hosted at Spazju Kreattiv, Malta's National Centre for Creativ- ity in Valletta, this exhibition is open to the public from the 4th of November 2023 to the 10th of December 2023. It features multi-media artworks by notable artists, namely Mario Abela, Ġulja Holland, Shezad Dawood, Helen Zughaib, Lara Baladi, Toontuloon, Pierre Portelli, Nora Byrne, and Juliana Es- paña Keller. Alongside the exhibition, several relat- ed workshops are offered, making "Possible Worlds" a comprehensive educational experience that engages all age groups. The exhibition itself, cu- rated by Nikki Petroni Ed- ucation and Development Executive at Arts Council Malta, delves into the press- ing environmental concerns resulting from urban expan- sion and the consequential impact on the natural and social environment. It provides a platform for both Maltese and inter- national artists to present their perspectives through a rich array of artworks. Visi- tors have the opportunity to reflect on the intricate re- lationship between human society and the environ- ment and explore alterna- tive possibilities for a more sustainable and harmoni- ous future. The diversity in the artistic expression, commissioned by Spazju Kreattiv, in col- laboration with ŻiguŻajg Festival and Arts Council Malta, along with partners Valletta Design Cluster and the Valletta Cultural Agency, underscores the exhibition's broader mis- sion to promote awareness and foster dialogue on envi- ronmental issues. "Possible Worlds" is not just any art exhibition; it's a dynamic and educational experi- ence that inspires a sense of purpose in our collective journey towards a more bal- anced and responsible co- existence with the Earth. Daniel Azzopardi, Artistic Director of Spazju Kreattiv, shared his perspective say- ing that "the project is fun- damentally geared towards enhancing accessibility to the creative arts for chil- dren and young individuals. This goal is accomplished through the exploration of highly pertinent subjects and the active involvement of the audience in both the development and creation of the exhibition." Mary-Ann Cauchi, Di- rector Funding and Strat- egy at Arts Council Malta highlighted the importance of such collaborations be- tween cultural operators, as mentioned in Strategy2025, "especially since this is part of the main objective in the education and development strategic area and through such initiatives like Possi- ble Worlds, we can contin- ue to widen arts apprecia- tion, which is also an action forming part of this strate- gic area." Curator Nikki Petroni went on to say that "Possible Worlds is a space for learn- ing and discovery aimed at facilitating children and young audiences to engage with contemporary art- works and artists. This will be achieved through the ex- hibition itself as well as the educational programme." ŻiguŻajg Festival Director, Marta Vella expressed her excitement about having "Possible Worlds" as part of the Festival's Programme. She emphasised how the ex- hibition is not just a display of magnificent works of art but also a thought-provok- ing experience. "We are thrilled to have Possible Worlds as part of the ŻiguŻajg Festival 2023's Programme. This enchant- ing visual art exhibition will bring local and interna- tional talent together right here, in our home of Spazju Kreattiv. It will provoke our audiences to ask questions when they see the magnif- icent work and allow their imagination to take flight!"
