maltatoday | SUNDAY • 3 DECEMBER 2023 10 COMMERCIAL Santas' festive splash for charity DONNING Santa hats and not much else except their swim- wear, Grand Hotel Excelsior employees and several other brave souls will be taking the plunge on Sunday to raise mon- ey for the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation. This is the 13th consecutive year — bar one when the pan- demic hit — that the Santa Swim is being organised, under the patronage of the President of Malta. The swimmers will be cheered on by a 30-piece Police Force band, while the less brave can tuck into mince pies and sip mulled wine and enjoy the fes- tive spirit. Hotel general manger Norbert Grixti said: "This is an event we all look forward to. Each year, we have people who come and swim around the harbour un- der the protection of the AFM patrol boats; there are those who simply jump in and quick- ly scurry out of the water, while others play a friendly water polo game inside the hotel marina." The swim is open to the pub- lic and registration for those wishing to take part in this year's event will take place at the Hotel Lobby at 9am. Those taking part will automatically be in with a chance to win a two- night luxury stay at the Grand Hotel Excelsior. President George Vella and his wife are expected to arrive at 10.30am, and after the national anthem is played, everyone will head to the water's edge where the fun begins. Frank Salt Real Estate joins forces with Dr Klown to share smiles and laughter TO mark the special occas- sion of World Children's Day, members of Frank Salt's Let- ting team collaborated with Dr Klown and presented gifts to the kids currently recovering at the children's wards at Ma- ter Dei Hospital, as well as a donation to the NGO. During the activity, the team had the opportunity to get to know and appreciate the valua- ble work that these clown doc- tors do on a daily basis, before proceeding to deliver an array of toys and books to the chil- dren. Dr. Klown, a non-governmen- tal organization, is committed to delivering clown doctor ser- vices at Mater Dei Hospital. Comprising volunteers from diverse backgrounds, these clown doctors undergo artistic and psychological training to bring joy to children in hospi- tal settings. They engage with children at their bedsides, of- fering entertainment during treatments, and tailor their in- teractions based on each child's unique situation and interests. Mr Eric Muscat, President of Dr Klown had this to say, "This initiative by Frank Salt Real Es- tate is a welcome initiative as it complements the voluntary work that our clown doctors perform for children in recov- ery." Such lovely gestures not on- ly make the day better for sick children but also shows how communities can come togeth- er to make a positive differ- ence in children's lives. "The commitment to doing some- thing small yet meaningful has become a cherished tradition within the Frank Salt Real Es- tate group and ingrained in its corporate social responsi- bility", said Frank Salt Letting Manager Philippa Tabone. "This time we wanted to reach out to the children who are fac- ing challenges and perhaps our little input can put a smile on a child's face and spread joy and comfort in medical settings."
