21.12.2023 2 NEWS CARMELO Caruana Company, a logis- tics house in Malta and the Mediterra- nean which forms part of Hili Ventures, commemorated its 100-year anniver- sary with a cultural donation that pays homage to Malta's maritime heritage. e company donated an 18th Centu- ry oil-on-canvas painting to the Malta Maritime Museum, the island's largest museum. e work depicts the mar- itime hustle and bustle around Mar- samxett harbour and Manoel Island as seen from the Valletta bastions, offering viewers a unique window into Malta's past. From corsairing adventures to quar- antine practices and local games, the painting captures the daily activities of a busy harbour, coming together to cre- ate a rich tapestry of 18th Century life in Malta. It holds immense relevance for the Malta Maritime Museum's col- lection and will become part of the mu- seum's permanent collection when it is re-opened. While the museum is being restored, this piece will be showcased at the Inquisitor's Palace, a Heritage Malta historic house museum in Birgu. Christine Tabone is Head of En- terprise Risk Management. She joined the Bank in 2011 and has served in successively senior risk management roles, including as secretary of the Risk Committee since 2016. As Head of ERM, Christine oversees various risk-related ac- tivities such as internal capital and liquidity assessments, the Bank's recovery and resolution framework, providing guidance to business functions and mon- itoring compliance with a large dashboard of risk indicators and the Board-approved risk appetite. Christine is a Master in Ac- countancy from the University of Malta, a graduate of the Institute of Risk Management, London and holds its International Diploma in Risk Management, and a member of the Malta Institute of Account- ants. Matthew Swain is the Head of Sustainability for APS Group. He joined the Bank in 2022 as Senior ESG Manager after 17 years in the United Kingdom, working for a major global bank and specialis- ing in renewable energy lending for corporates, eventually manag- ing and implementing global sus- tainability risk policies. At APS Bank Matthew is leading the development of an ESG Strat- egy Framework across all business lines and setting the Bank's medi- um-term ESG commitments. His remit will then expand to a wider sustainability strategy, encom- passing the UN Sustainable De- velopment Goals (SDGs) as well as overall responsibility for Emis- sions Accounting and ESG re- porting. Matthew holds a Master of Science in Economics and Poli- cy of Energy and the Environment from University College, London.
