maltatoday | SUNDAY • 27 MARCH 2022 OPINION 3 LETTERS & EDITORIAL maltatoday | SUNDAY • 14 JANUARY 2024 Mikiel Galea Letters & Clarifications When is the Malta Eurovision being held? I am a Eurovision fan and have reg- ularly attended the Malta Eurovision Song Contest but this year I am in the dark as to when it will be held. The contest is being advertised on TVM as happening in February and yet I can- not find any tickets for the event. With February just around the corner, can someone from TVM enlighten us mu- sic lovers where the concert is going to be held and when the tickets will be on sale? When launching the contest last year, the organisers had said the final night will be held in January. For some reason, the concert has now been shifted to February but no details are publicly available it seems. E. Sammut Naxxar Road works coordination CAN the new transport minister create a committee involving different ministries so that roadworks and interventions that require ripping up the roads can be coor- dinated in an efficient and cost-effective way? It makes little sense for Infrastructure Malta to rebuild a road only to have En- emalta dig it up again to replace an old underground cable shortly afterwards. Whenever roads are redone, all under- ground services should be inspected and any changes included in the plans from the start. In circumstances where emergency works are needed to fix utility infrastruc- ture that is below ground, Infrastructure Malta must ensure that the resurfacing is then done up to standard. We have too many residential roads, some of them that have been resurfaced over recent years that are patched up badly after interventions by the Water Services Corporation and Enemalta. This bad workmanship, or use of inadequate materials, results in potholes developing shortly after. Furthermore, can the new transport minister ensure that the abandoned roadworks along the Msida promenade are completed because the situation is now beyond ridiculous? David Busuttil, Gżira Foundations to build on ALLOW me to congratulate the Mal- tese national water polo team on their performance at the European Champi- onship held in Croatia. The results may not have been what we would have liked but I believe the team has the necessary foundations to grow stronger in the years to come. It is after all, a relatively young team that performed without some of Malta's veteran aces. The potential is there for the team to excel in the future. M. Schembri St Julian's
