The largest share of inbound tourists were aged between 25 and 44 (41.7 per cent), followed by the 45-64 age brack- et (34.5 per cent). United Kingdom, Italian and German residents made up 40.4 per cent of total inbound tourists. Total nights spent went up by 14.7 per cent when compared to Novem- ber 2022, almost reaching 1.4 mil- lion nights. The largest share of guest nights (86.9 per cent) was spent in rented accommodation establish- ments. The average length of stay of total in- bound tourists stood at 6.3 nights. Total tourist expenditure surpassed €178.2 million, an increase of 23.6 per cent over the corresponding month in 2022. The average expenditure per night was estimated at €129.0. January-November 2023 Inbound tourists for the first 11 months of 2023 amounted to 2,816,641, an increase of 31.0 per cent over the same period in 2022. Total nights spent by inbound tour- ists went up by 22.6 per cent, almost reaching 19.2 million nights. Total tourist expenditure was es- timated at €2.6 billion, 33.7 per cent higher than that recorded for 2022. Total expenditure per capita in- creased to €907 from €889 in 2022. Number of inbound tourists in November 2023 up 24.7 per cent over 2022 Total inbound tourists by month DURING the year 2022, Foreign Direct Invest- ment flows in Malta went up by €18.9 billion. The main contributors to total FDI flows were financial and insurance activities with a total contribution of 88.8 per cent. In December 2022, the stock position of FDI amounted to €460.8 billion, an increase of €38.0 billion over the corresponding peri- od of the previous year. As in previous years, financial and insur- ance activities accounted for 97.7 per cent of FDI stocks in December 2022. Direct Investment abroad During 2022, direct investment flows abroad totalled €23.4 billion, mainly in the form of equity and investment fund shares/ units. The stock position of direct investment abroad stood at €447.5 billion in December 2022, up by €37.1 billion over the stock po- sition in 2021. Financial and insurance activities made up 99.3 per cent of the total FDI abroad. FDI in Malta stood at €460.8 billion at end of 2022
