MaltaToday survey
A less gloomy mood marred
by cost of living and war
A majority believe the country is mov-
ing in the wrong direction but there
are signs the mood is gradually shift-
ing, a MaltaToday survey shows.
The survey found that although
three in five respondents still believe
the country has taken a wrong turn
there was a nine-point increase since
October of those who think the coun-
try is moving in the right direction.
However, the improving mood is
marred by inflation, which has seen a
five-point increase since October and
has now overtaken foreigners as a top
concern.
For the first time respondents were
also asked to state the greatest prob-
lem facing the European Union. Not
surprisingly one fourth of respondents
referred to the war in Gaza as their
greatest concern as EU citizens, fol-
lowed by inflation (16.5%), immigra-
tion (16.4%) and the ongoing war in
Ukraine (16%).
