On Facebook, Paola mayor Dominic Grima wrote a short but livid post where he said that Triq l-Arkata, where the accident occurred, was closed without the necessary permit. No one was hurt in the in- cident, with the mayor saying that a police report, as well as a report to LESA has been filed. Meanwhile a spokesperosn for the Building and Construc- tion Authority contacted Mal- taToday to explain that the facade was meant to be taken down, and that the authority is investigating what lead the building to fall onto the street. This is the second collapse of a construction site in Febru- ary, as a facade had collapsed in Gżira earlier this month. Involved persons being in- vestigated – BCA The Building and Construc- tion Authority said in a state- ment on Tuesday afternoon that a stop work notice has been issued. Contact: info@prolink.com.mt THE police have not sent for minister Anton Refalo over his possession of a historic stone marker in his Qala home. Refalo said this in parliament after he was asked by the PN's justice spokesperson Karol Aq- uilina if the police had spoken to him about the artefact, to which he responded in the negative. The artefact in question dates back to the British rule and bears the inscription Victoria Regina on it. The marker appeared in the background of a private par- ty photo uploaded to social me- dia by his son. When the stone marker case erupted, Refalo claimed to have invited the Superintendence for Cultural Heritage to his home on 18 February 2022 so they could see the artefact. Refalo claimed that "every- one knows" his love for Maltese cultural and historical heritage, defending himself by saying he would do his utmost to promote its preservation. However, he never explained how the artefact ended up in his house. Sources privvy to the political machinations in Gozo had said Refalo is adamant on not resign- ing, leaving the Prime Minister with his hands tied.
