15 NEWS maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 17 APRIL 2024 EBO, a leading Maltese AI solutions supplier for the UK healthcare market continues to strengthen its role in the UK's health sector with the launch of its new Digital Women's Health Hub, an innovative AI-powered platform that seeks to address the distinct healthcare challeng- es encountered by women in the UK. The Women's Health Hub con- sists of an intelligent AI Virtual Assistant, surfaced on an NHS Trust's website to engage with female patients via two-way hu- manlike dialogue while ensuring that the information is delivered accurately, consistently and with empathy. "Despite strides toward gender equality in healthcare, numer- ous obstacles persist, impacting women's access to quality care, reproductive health services, and overall well-being," Dr Gege Gatt, EBO founder and CEO, said. "This reality was also confirmed by the UK Government's recent- ly published Women's Health- care Strategy which acknowl- edged the need for a system that is more responsive to women's unique health requirements, such as pregnancy loss, endo- metriosis and menopause. This is exactly what we are proposing with our new Digital Women's Health Hub which is a direct re- sponse to the UK Government's strategy." A recent public survey by the UK Government, as part of a Women's Health Strategy, found that 51% of females face obsta- cles in accessing healthcare, 84% feel that they are not listened to by healthcare professionals, par- ticularly on queries related to gynaecological symptoms, whilst only 8% feel they have access to enough information on gynaeco- logical conditions. UK findings also show that there is a 20-year life expectan- cy gap between women living in deprived areas and those living in wealthier parts of the UK. Furthermore, 71% of patients refer to online search engines, such as Google, for health in- formation rather than the NHS website or doctors. "At EBO, we are committed to fostering a healthcare system that is available and accessible to all. Our approach revolves around facilitating effective and accurate patient-provider com- munication, ensuring that pa- tients are well informed, listened to and cared for, regardless of their background, location, or digital literacy level," Gatt said. Through advanced Natural Language Processing and ma- chine learning algorithms, the platform efficiently addresses patient enquiries on a 24/7 basis, offering clear directions and re- sources. It gathers patient feedback, automates assessments and re- sponds to questions related to availability of community service providers, specific services, med- ical procedures, and the hospi- tal's approach to care delivery. "EBO is setting new stand- ards for what is achievable with healthcare technology," Gatt said. "Our new Women's Health Hub solution not only places ac- cessibility, education, and inclu- sivity at the heart of its solution but also advances high-quality digital healthcare experiences at any time, across all devices and in over 100 languages. Effective- ly, our solution ensures that no woman is left behind."
