maltatoday | SUNDAY • 19 MAY 2024 2 ART Whimsical Inquiries: A visual exploration of curiosity IN a world that often seems to demand concrete answers and practical solutions, the art world offers a refuge—a space where curiosity can roam free- ly, and questions can be cel- ebrated as much as answers. This sentiment is especially encapsulated in our group art exhibition titled 'Whimsical Inquiries: A Visual Exploration of Curiosity.' Held at Christine X Art Gallery from 2nd to 30th May 2024, this exhibition invites our viewers on a jour- ney of wonder and exploration, encouraging them to embrace the mysteries and complexities of life through the lens of art. 'Whimsical Inquiries' brings together a diverse collection of works by emerging and estab- lished artists alike. From paint- ings to 3-dimensional work, each piece in the exhibition re- f lects a unique interpretation of curiosity and invites view- ers to delve into the unknown. One of the striking features of the exhibition is its playful at- mosphere. As soon as visitors step into the gallery space, they are greeted by vibrant colours, unconventional shapes, and unexpected juxtapositions. There is a sense of whimsy in the works, triggering a sense of childlike wonder and explora- tion. The theme of curiosity is explored from various angles throughout the exhibition, ei- ther by inviting viewers to con- template the vastness of space and the intricacies of life on Earth or by taking on a more introspective approach, using art as a tool for self-discovery and personal ref lection. View- ers are encouraged to engage with these works on a deeper level, pondering the mysteries of consciousness and identi- ty. As visitors make their way through the gallery, they are encouraged to embrace the spirit of inquiry and to ap- proach each work with an open mind. 'Whimsical Inquiries' reminds us that curiosity is not merely a trait to be cultivated, but a fundamental aspect of what it means to be human. Artists selected to participate in this exhibition are an eclec- tic mix of artists coming from different backgrounds: Trevor Borg, Karen Caruana, Rebec- ca Cassar, Trevor Diacono, Charlene Galea, Ruslana Gri- ma, LUfER, Mariam Mifsud De Giorgio, Adrian Scicluna, Sabina Smialek, Stefan Spiteri, Eli- sa Von Brockdorff and Emma Weller. In a world that often values certainty over curios- ity, this exhibition serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of embracing the unknown and celebrating the questions that drive us forward. By inviting viewers to embark on a visual exploration of cu- riosity, 'Whimsical Inquiries' challenges us to see the world with fresh eyes and to never stop asking, "What if?" The ex- hibition is open daily (except Sunday) from 10am-1pm and 4-7pm until 30th May 2024 at Christine X Art Gallery in Tigne street c/w Hughes Hallet street in Sliema or on our Artsy Viewing room.
