COSTA Cruises held the worldwide
launch of its Calypso Abyss Party on
Saturday 18th at the Upper Barrakka
Gardens. The event attracted a large
crowd that was treated to a spectacular
gun salute, followed by hi-tech projec-
tion over the bastions of Fort St Angelo
across Valletta's Grand Harbour.
This was part of the "Sea Destinations",
a great exclusive innovation, which will
make the Costa travel experience even
more unique and unforgettable.
These are truly new destinations, to
be discovered on board the ship, dur-
ing navigation, through evocative mo-
ments, out-of-the-ordinary experiences
that tell of iconic places included in our
routes. In this way, alongside the "clas-
sic" destinations on land, such as San-
torini, Mykonos, Crete or Zakynthos,
Costa itineraries will take guests to dis-
cover new destinations between the sky
and the sea.
Costa Cruises chose Malta for this
launch in recognition to the Company's
longstanding relationship to the Island,
which goes back to over six decades
when its first cruise ships started calling
at Valletta's majestic Grand Harbour.
The event shall in fact receive world-
wide coverage for both Malta as a des-
tination and Costa Cruises via the dis-
tribution channels of both the Malta
Tourism Authority and those of the
cruise line – primarily an extensive,
worldwide travel agency network, tour-
ism publications, social media chan-
nels, and influencers.
During the event, SMSMondial, Cos-
ta's agents in Malta, launched the sum-
mer 2025 Malta-to-Malta brochure
which features special, early booking
discounts.
