maltatoday | SUNDAY • 30 JUNE 2024 7 COMMERCIAL Our experience with the Security Operations Centre Training Course offered by MITA-NCC By Lara Brockdorff and Jeremy Farrugia THE SOC Analyst course offered by MITA-NCC under the Cybersecurit y Skilling Programme delivered a com- prehensive blend of theoretical knowl- edge and practical application, signif- icantly enhancing our cybersecurit y skills. Both of us entered the course with the aim of gaining a deeper un- derstanding of cybersecurit y, and we were not disappointed. The course not only met but exceeded our expec- tations, providing invaluable insights and hands-on experience with re- al-world securit y incidents. The hands-on experience with threat detection and response strategies was instrumental in improving our ability to identify and mitigate cybersecurity threats. The course's real-life examples made theoretical concepts more tangi- ble and easier to grasp. The knowledge provided by the course is essential in our increasingly digital world, both professionally and personally. A key element of the course was the mentors, who were not only highly professional and dedicated but also in- dustry experts. Their vast experience and expertise in cybersecurity made the learning process both engaging and insightful, as they were able to provide deep insights and practical knowledge drawn from their own personal en- counters. Our journey through the course was not only about acquiring knowledge but also about feeling empowered to pursue further learning and opportuni- ties in the cybersecurity field. Although we have not yet entered the security in- dustry professionally, we now feel con- fident and motivated to explore career prospects in this dynamic sector. The course has laid a solid foundation for a career in cybersecurity, preparing us for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. We would highly recommend the SOC Analyst course to anyone inter- ested in cybersecurity. The course is structured to provide a solid foun- dation in SOC operations, making it suitable for individuals at various stag- es of their cybersecurity journey. The practical skills and in-depth knowledge gained from the course are invaluable, whether you are looking to advance your career in cybersecurity or en- hance your personal understanding of cybersecurity practices. In summary, our experience with the SOC Analyst course has been very positive. It has equipped us with the necessary skills and knowledge to nav- igate the complexities of cybersecuri- ty, making us more capable and con- fident in handling security challenges. For anyone looking to build a career in cybersecurity or simply enhance their understanding of this critical field, this course is an excellent starting point.
