contemporary extension, minimising its footprint
to create a well-sized roof terrace, a rare outdoor
space in the neighbourhood. Strategic use of space,
colours, and materials aimed to illuminate without
overpowering, accentuating the focus and
central elements of the design. The
roof terrace, screened by plants and trees, envisioned
a green roof, addressing the scarcity of outdoor
spaces in the vicinity. Internally, re-adaptive and re-use

Respecting the old fabric, the design of the
intervention was governed by reversibility. Whilst
retaining the original street frontage, new works sat
behind discreetly, ensuring a modest approach that
extended the existing structure outward. Preservation
of the stairwell, with meticulous attention to marble
risers and wrought iron railing, maintained the
originality of the space.
