maltatoday | SUNDAY • 21 JULY 2024 6 COMMERCIAL MCAST applications for new students are now open THE Malta College of Arts, Sci- ence, and Technology (MCAST) is accepting online applications from prospective students wishing to enrol in courses starting in October. The appli- cations are open from 15 July to 14 August. We strongly en- courage students to take this opportunity and apply now to secure a place in their preferred course. Over the past two weeks the College held information ses- sions on campus in Paola for prospective students and their parents. Over 600 individu- als attended the information sessions, which were live- streamed on the College's social media pages. The recordings of these are available on the Col- lege website for students to find out more about the College's six institutes, namely the Institute of Applied Sciences (IAS), the Institute of Business, Manage- ment, and Commerce (IBMC), the Institute of Community Ser- vices (ICS), the Institute for the Creative Arts (ICA), the Insti- tute of Engineering and Trans- port (IET), and the Institute of Information and Communica- tion Technology (ICT). MCAST also offers several courses at its Gozo Campus and entry-level courses offered by the Centre for Learning and Employability. A step-by-step guide on sub- mitting your application is avail- able online, and the admissions telephone helpline 23987888 also offers help (Monday to Fri- day, from 8.30 am to 2.00 pm) with submitting the online ap- plication and the required doc- umentation. Applications for current MCAST students continuing or progressing to the next level are open between Saturday, 27th July, and Wednesday 14th Au- gust 2024 Students who need help un- derstanding learning progres- sion, courses, and career paths can email MCAST's Career Guidance advisers at career- guidance@mcast.edu.mt for personalised support and ad- vice. HSBC Malta welcomes summer interns with exciting future skills programme HSBC Malta recently welcomed this year's summer interns, pro- viding them with a memorable start to their internship experi- ence. Qualifying students from the JA Malta Foundation, MCAST's Institute of Business Management and Commerce, and the Univer- sity of Malta were greeted with a warm welcome that included a de- lightful breakfast. The interns met members of our leadership team as we shared our values through an induction meeting. They also were taken for a comprehensive tour of the new HSBC Malta HUB offices in Qormi. One of the day's highlights saw Matthew Mamo, Deputy Head of Human Resources at HSBC Mal- ta, introduce the interns to the bank's inaugural Future Skills In- tern Programme. Over the sum- mer, the programme will provide the interns with access to mentors, online courses, and numerous op- portunities to enhance their skills in alignment with their career as- pirations. Matthew Mamo expressed his enthusiasm for the programme, stating, "At HSBC Malta, we are committed to investing in the fu- ture of our young talent. Our Fu- ture Skills Intern Programme is designed to provide interns with invaluable experiences and re- sources that will help them develop the skills necessary for their future careers. We are excited to see the growth and progress of our interns over the summer." The success of the welcome day was made possible by the collective efforts of HSBC Malta's dedicated colleagues. Special thanks were given to Beverley Spiteri for cap- turing the memorable moments from the day. HSBC Malta remains committed to fostering the development of future professionals through inno- vative programmes and supportive initiatives. Delicata's limited-edition Moscato Perlato wins silver in Burgundy THE Delicata winery, Malta's most awarded winemaker, has won a silver medal at the 2024 Muscat du Monde wine com- petition in France for their new Maltese wine Moscato Perlato. The Muscats du Monde con- test is the leading international wine tasting competition, now in its 24th year, that awards the best still and sparkling wines made from the Muscat or Mos- cato grape variety. Organised by Forum Oenologie, it was held on July 11 in France's Burgundy region. Truly an international chal- lenge, the contest's 55 expert judges tasted 145 wine samples from 15 different countries. Del- icata's Moscato Perlato was the only wine hailing from Malta to win. Moscato Perlato, Wine of Mal- ta, is a naturally sweet wine with a moderate alcoholic strength of 4.5% vol. The wine has a delicate perlage consisting of tiny bub- bles which are mainly noticeable on the palate and accentuate the wine's fruity and grapey aromas and flavours. The winning 2023 Moscato Perlato vintage is the winery's maiden release of this new Deli- cata wine which rendered a very limited amount of individual- ly numbered bottles. Only the best quality Moscato grapes of the 2023 harvest, hand-picked from specially earmarked vine- yard parcels in Malta, have been used. This prestigious silver medal comes on the heels of anoth- er two bronze medals awarded to the winery at the Decanter World Wine Awards just a few weeks ago. Delicata, Malta's foremost, fourth-generation family-run winery, has now won an unri- valled total of 146 international awards to date. For trade en- quiries, email Delicata at info@ delicata.com
