This "Festi- val Orchestre Giovanili" is an annual international event held in Florence and the surrounding cities in Italy. This year's festival has been ongo- ing since June 23rd and will end on August 5th. Youth orchestras from 13 countries around the world will participate, and the Malta Youth Orchestra will be the largest one with 54 musicians. The Maltese orchestra will per- form in two concerts under the ba- ton of Michael Laus. The first concert will take place on at Terme Tettuccio, Montecati- ni, while the second concert will be held in Piazza della Signoria in the centre of Florence. Besides internationally known music, the local orchestra will also perform pieces by Maltese compos- ers. In the first concert, Elegy by Stephen-Joseph Psaila will be per- formed, while in the second concert, the youth orchestra will execute Sbuħija by the late Joseph Sammut. This is the first time that the Mal- tese Youth Orchestra will perform abroad. Malta Youth Orchestra in international festival
