THE biggest problem the La-
bour Party and the government
are facing is their leadership,
insiders who spoke to Malta-
Today have said.
"There are a lot of angry peo-
ple in the party and govern-
ment right now. We all know
that the biggest problem is the
lack of decisive action, back-
tracking, declarations that are
ill-thought and the constant
jockeying with different indi-
viduals. This has left the gov-
ernment paralysed with Minis-
ters unwilling to take initiative
or action," an insider who was
granted anonymity to speak
freely, told MaltaToday.

Groundwater: over 35% 'freely' taken
by bottlers, bowsers and construction
A staggering 1.7 million cubic metres
of water in 2023 was abstracted from
the ground for various non-agricultur-
al purposes, including commercial use
by bowsers, beverage and construction
companies, as well as domestic use.
Data provided to MaltaToday by
the Energy and Water Agency (EWA)
shows a sharp increase in this non-ag-
ricultural uptake of groundwater com-
pared to 2019, when only half this
amount was abstracted by non-agricul-
tural sources.
