maltatoday | SUNDAY • 1 SEPTEMBER 2024 7 COMMERCIAL Quad Central achieves Malta's First LEED Platinum Certification, setting a new standard for sustainable buildings QUAD Central is proud to an- nounce that it has become the first building in Malta to achieve LEED Platinum certification, a prestigious accolade awarded by the U.S. Green Building Coun- cil (USGBC). This certification underscores Quad Central's commitment to sustainability, positioning it as a leader in en- vironmental management and sustainable building practices not only in Malta but also across Eu- rope. The LEED (Leadership in En- ergy and Environmental Design) certification is the world's fore- most green building rating sys- tem, providing a comprehensive framework for creating healthy, efficient, and cost-effective build- ings. Achieving LEED Platinum, the highest level of certification, is a testament to Quad Central's dedication to minimising environ- mental impact while maximising economic and social benefits. As the first building in Malta to receive this prestigious certifica- tion, Quad Central joins global landmarks like The Crystal, Lon- don, which was the first in the world to achieve LEED Platinum certification and Apple Park, Cu- pertino, California, one of the largest LEED Platinum-certified structures in the world, pow- ered by renewable energy sourc- es, among other prestigious and renowned developments. This achievement is not just a mile- stone for Quad Central but a significant step forward for the Maltese market, demonstrating the potential for sustainable de- velopment, and setting a bench- mark for future projects, inspiring businesses and organisations to pursue sustainable practices. "We are immensely proud to achieve LEED Platinum certifica- tion, a testament to our unwaver- ing commitment to sustainability and excellence," said Sandro At- tard, General Manager at Quad Central. "This achievement not only reflects our dedication to en- vironmental stewardship but also sets a new standard for sustaina- ble development in Malta and be- yond." Quad Central's journey towards sustainability has been meticu- lously planned to enhance en- vironmental quality, econom- ic efficiency, and community well-being. This recognition solid- ifies its role as a pillar of sustain- ability in Malta, inspiring future projects and fostering a more vi- brant community within the Cen- tral Business District.
