Originally built in 1885, this semi-detached villa underwent a meticulous restoration in which Halmann Vella, a leader in local surfacing and design, played an integral role. The project seamlessly merges rustic architecture with contemporary flair, creating a space that feels both timeless and modern. Central to this transformation were ceramic tiles from Marca Corona, the renowned Italian brand established in 1741. Known for its Mediterranean- inspired designs, Marca Corona's tiles were a key element to the restoration, adding charm and sophistication while enhancing the historic character of the property. The hotel's reception area sets the tone for the entire villa. Halmann Vella's design team used Marca Corona's tiles to create striking flooring, blending old style patterns with a modern twist. The reception desk, crafted from polished Pietra Lavica, further elevates the luxurious ambiance, showcasing fine Italian workmanship. Each of the hotel's four floors follows a distinct design theme, carefully curated by Halmann Vella to reflect the villa's unique character. Small tiles from Marca Corona's collections were chosen for the bedrooms and matching feature walls in all bathrooms, balancing a touch of Maltese style with modern elements. These intricately patterned tiles not only preserve the property's historic charm but also introduce a fresh, contemporary touch to the interiors. In the bathrooms, Halmann Vella supplied custom- made vanities and sanitaryware, creating a cohesive design that balances functionality and style. The restaurant, located on the first floor, is another showcase of Halmann Vella's expertise in blending materials and styles. The flooring, paired with a custom-designed buffet counter made from polished Bianco Carrara, combines rustic with sleek, modern aesthetics, resulting in a warm yet sophisticated dining space. In addition to tiles and furnishings, Halmann Vella provided custom features like lift surrounds and APSR resin fire escape stairs, ensuring the hotel's safety while maintaining its visual appeal. Every detail was thoughtfully crafted to meet both aesthetic and functional requirements. As Halmann Vella celebrates its 70th anniversary, Casa Rosanna stands as a testament to their commitment to quality and design excellence. The collaboration with Marca Corona underscores how the right materials can bridge the gap between tradition and innovation, creating beautiful, enduring spaces that set new standards for design in Malta and beyond. Casa Rosanna not only offers a luxurious guest experience but also showcases how thoughtful restoration can honour Malta's architectural heritage while embracing modern comforts.
