Ta' Kercem is one of the oldest inhabited areas on Gozo, with archaeological finds dating back 7000 years. Remains of Roman baths and an early Christian cemetery show continued habitation. The village is known for its chapel dedicated to St. Gregory, built in 1581, and the annual St. Gregory procession. The parish church, built in 1851 and expanded in 1906-10, is dedicated to both St. Gregory and Our Lady of Perpetual Help, giving the village two festas — one in March and a larger one in July.
