The decision was met with criticism across the board. On a Facebook post at the end of last week, Nadur dep- uty mayor Kevin Curmi crit- icised the decision and set it was unacceptable that even elderly people would have to go to Victoria for their vacci- nations. But, when contacted by this newspaper, Curmi confirmed that following a meeting yes- terday, the authorities had agreed that the vaccinations could be administered in the individual localities provided that the process be supervised by a doctor on site. "With three jabs having to be administered, the author- ities insisted - and rightly so - that a doctor be on site, should any complication arise," Curmi said. He welcomed the decision and said he was pleased that the council had spoken in one voice on the matter. Equally welcome was news on the re-launching of GP services for Nadur's resi- dents. On the matter of a clinic in Nadur, Curmi said that the berġa which had operated from the village square for years had closed down after the rent on the property had expired. "The council has now agreed to provide facilities for a doc- tor to be available for general practice for our residents," he said. "The government will pay for the visiting doctor."
