16 submissions were received by the Gozo
Regional Development Authority following
a call for tenders for the development of a
climate neutral plan for the island of Gozo,
GozoToday has learned.
GRDA CEO Mario Borg confirmed that
the submissions are currently being evalu-
ated.
The tender was issued after the govern-
ment declared its intention to make Gozo
the first climate neutral region of the Mal-
tese islands as part of the national effort to
achieve climate neutrality.
This is in line with Malta's Low Carbon
Development Strategy, which states that the
island of Gozo can become carbon neutral
before Malta's 2050 target. In this regard,
following a call by the European Commis-
sion, Gozo - through the GRDA - has been
chosen as one of the 100 cities participating
in the EU Mission "Climate-Neutral and
Smart Cities," a Horizon Europe program.
