P ho t o b y M a t t he w C u t aj a r maltatoday | SUNDAY • 24 NOVEMBER 2024 4 ALMANAC My essentials KRISTA ŠUJAK 17-year-old, singer- songwriter I am a second year Junior College student. I have been singing since the age of five, playing the piano since I was seven. I started song writing at around 12, and since then I have released songs which I wrote and produced in my own home studio. Music is a way for me to express myself. 1. Books 2. Film 3. Internet/TV 4. Music 5. Place LAST August, I had the oppor- tunity to go to Adele's concert in Munich. She is my idol, both music wise and personally. I admire her honesty and talent, and I hope that one day I can follow in her footsteps. MY favourite country is Croatia. I can't choose a spe- cific place though. I love the beaches because they are just beautiful, the sea is so clear, and the weather is so nice. But then I also love the rural side that is full of for- ests; it's something that we can't see in Malta. Since I am half Croatian, I visit Croatia a lot to see my family. I think that Croatia is a place that everyone should visit at least once in their life. UNFORTUNATELY, due to my school studies and sing- ing commitments, I don't have much time to read for pleas- ure. The books I do read are usually school-related. How- ever, while researching for a recent school project, I came across an article about brain development, which I found quite interesting. A recent film I watched was Us. It's a psychological thriller and a horror movie at the same time. It will forever be one of those movies that will keep on play- ing in my head. Not only does it have an amazing story, but the plot twist at the end is one that you can't forget. Throughout the whole movie I was at the edge of my seat, and it is the type of mov- ie that triggers a discussion after watching it. I use the internet quite fre- quently, and it plays a central role in my daily life. I rely on it for a variety of purposes, from staying connected with my friends through instant messaging and social media, to researching topics of inter- est and finding information on virtually anything I need. Whether it's for entertain- ment, learning, or staying updated on current events, the internet has become an essential tool for me.
